Hi, just wondering if anyone can tell me anything about a B-3 Type Flight Jacket, ie: How to tell if it's the real deal or a reproduction and what the value might be. I have been researching it but cannot find one like this from this company, (CALAFATE AVIATION)
I have a B-3 Flight Jacket, the tags read as follows:
Spec. No. 40-4821 Flight Jacket
A.C. Contract 1942
AC-17023 FLIGHT EQUIPMENT U.S. ARMY AIR FORCE
CALAFATE AVIATION
100% Shearling
Size M
Made in Argentina

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Repro

I do believe you have a Repro B-3.
No Wartime contracts went to Argentina
if my memory serves me well.

I'm afraid what you have there is most definately a repro as all original WW2 B-3s were US made, although they never actually state that on the label. What they always do state, if an official B-3, in these precise words is "PROPERTY AIR FORCE US ARMY"

The pre-war B3s do not have any mention of the USAAF on the spec label. They are easy to tell from modern repros in that they had a two piece back, and were made of hand dyed leather of a reddish hew-hence known as Redskins. ELC makes a good Rough Wear Copy.:) Below is an original from 1941.
