I have never seen a buffalo I'd pluck hair off of for a hair transplant. They always look like they have the frizzies.

I don't know... the tag says it's 100% wool. Some say Buffalo have a kind of wool... not fur. So probably or not, it may have some sheep wool. Only Hat Co knows.

The retailer was in Honduras. I read one post where the BOP hats had a 4" crown and a 4" brim. This one has the 4" crown but the brim is only about 3.5". Thanks for the help.

This looks like it has the No. 1. Quality die on the right side of the page.
It's more likely this is an Austral or a variant thereof. But almost certainly a pre-war hat. Looks like my 1922 Stetson:

It looks like they used the same thin ribbon as they did on the OR/Camp Draft. I might change that out. It's got all the same embossing & licensing info as the Akubra OR did.

Stetson Boss of the Plains 3X by Akubra. 3-1/2 RE brim x 5-3/4, maybe 6 Open Crown. Thin ribbon as used on the Akubra OR & current Campdraft. Black & gold keyhole size tag. No other tags behind sweat or liner edge. Liner has first version of Last Drop stencil behind plastic cover.

Jack on a quick side note, I just noticed your H8 quote. FYI, Netflix has a really cool extended scenes miniseries version of the movie out that I stumbled upon last night. Highly recommended, great alternate scenes that help round out the story line for sure.

Hatco is the factory outlet store at the Stetson/Resistol factory. They usually have 5000+ hats in the store and sell at 30-50% less than the retail sellers.
If he has a BOTP hat in stock, in your size, in your color, maybe he will ship it to you. But remember, you can also take an unblocked, flat brim Stetson and give it the Boss treatment. And he always has unblocked flat brims in stock.

MB, only looking for vintage which in a BOP probably only means No.1Q, Nutria Q & Real Nutria Q, & 3X. The Akubra BOP & the Akubra OR were both made under licensing agreement with Stetson & are both pretty rare now. Not interested in 4X, 5X or 6X or the many iterations now being called BOP's.
