Bought a Dobbs "Grayson"

Okay, I don't own a digital camera, so I can't post any pictures yet, but two days ago I bought a Dobbs at a neat little hat store in Flint. The style is "Grayson", the color is identified as "saber", a bluish grey. It has a three toned grosgrain, 1" hatband, fabric sweatband, no lining but a maker patch on the crown underside. I got it for $39 on sale from $49 indicated on a hand written price tag. IT IS WONDERFULLY SOFT. The felt is very smooth. It has a 2 1/2" brim, 5" crown, center dented with a moderate front pinch. The question is, is it wool, which, if it is, is no big deal to me. I know that the price would be the first indicator of a wool hat, then the fabric sweatband, and lack of designation, I would say it is not identified as wool, or fur felt, either, and it is a very thin, supple felt, what I imagine an Artlight is like. I'm presenting this (without photos, ugh!, I know) because I'm wondering if any one else has one, or has seen one. It's a terrific looking hat, and if I can get some shots of it up I will ASAP.

Gaige, that Bailey looks like a brown version of what I have, right down to the ribbon and bow treatment, except mine has an alternating black-white-red grosgrain, and I love the hat, wool or fur. I say get the Bailey.

We've got to get these hats and post pictures in them! If those Fedora Store hats are like what I'm wearing right now...I'm going to start looking at what they've got a little more closely.

Here's the one I bought. I do really like it, as evidenced by my five star review on the site. I love the color, but there is some barely visible mottling. Also, I can't say it will really hold up to being packed for travel.

Overall, though, I think it's a great hat for the money.

Anj, really nice look there. I read your review at the site. Isn't it nice to have the look you want within a budget? You look great, nice lines to the hat. Very Douglas.

Just noticed that my new Dobbs has a dimensionally cut brim, front being about an 1/8" longer than sides and back! I thought that was a rare feature.

Dean, you have to get you a camera! :D
Anyway look foward to some pics of this hat.
Ditto on the dimensionally cut brim, I did not know it was done on hats other than the Indy ones! I have to say I like the look it gives a hat.

I'm going to pick up a really cheap digital camera at Wal-Mart today, and I mean cheap, say $15 or so, they do have them, I've seen them, they're on a key-chain type set-up, anyway, for the simple purpose of getting shots to post in the Lounge. I've picked to grey wool hats at BCF recently and did some re-ribbon and bash work on them, and I'd like to offer them for comment. Wool; two strikes against them, I understand, but as often as I would wear them, and with a litle moisture repellent spray, they will suffice to meet my desire for style.

Like that gray Dobbs! Was the ribbon original, or did it come from a straw? Either way, the result is super.

The ribbon is the original. Not my usual choice. Might change it. Might not. I don't know. I love the hat. Thanks for your kind responses, T.!
