Well I have been busy trying to learn Excel so I can keep track of my Expenses and my Income from sales, so I will be covered when I file taxes for 2024, boy what a headache.

I replaced the hat band on the green fedora with a 1 1/2" wide green vintage grosgrain ribbon, the hat looks better with the green hat band. I have it posted for sale on Ebay, here is the Ebay address:

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?item=305023215883&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m3561.l2562&_ssn=dwb4926

This is what the hat looks like now, I made the photos on a cloudy day.
The hat size is 7 1/8", a big improvement over the blue ribbon.

If anyone is interested in my green hat, contact me, next week I will rebash this hat.

I have been thinking about giving the hat a different bash, teardrop shape with a loose front pinch and a 4 3/4" front height, 4" high rear height.

I've been wearing my Busted hat a lot the last few weeks. No new pics but the hat is a great outdoor hat.

That’s a great hat. Looks better on the head than it did on the hat stand in the first post. Reminds me of my Art Fawcett “Crossover” with larger proportions. Definite shade maker!
Looking good. Wear it in good health.

I am working on a Indiana Jones Raiders style hat and I made a couple of pieces that I attach to the front and back of the crown to help with the dimensional brim cut. I made the pieces using 2" wide leather, the 2 pieces are 1/4" thick in the middle and sanded down on the ends gradually to form tapered ends. I use a hatters cord to hold the leather in place while I cut the brim. The center of the 2 leather pieces is marked and I mark the center of the felt front and back to line up the leather before I cut. I have used this setup a couple of times and checked the results, it works great. My new DeCou rounding jack with the adjustable brass base is a great help, cutting is smooth, fast and accurate. The first time that I made a Indiana Raiders style fedora, I ask Art for advise on cutting a dimensional brim to get a 3" wide brim in the front and rear of the hat with the sides being 2 3/4" wide, he told me that he would use two pieces of felt stacked together in the front and back to cut the Indy style Raiders brim, he didn't like cutting the brim like that and he would only do that if the customer insisted. After thinking about the way that Art made the cut I decided to make my end pieces out of leather, this setup works great to make the dimensional cut, you just have to make sure the end pieces are centered and held in place while you cut.
Check out the photos.

I cut the brim on this hat twice, the first time I cut the brim to 3 1/8" front and back the sides were 2 7/8", then I cut the brim a second time, the brim is 3" wide front and back and the sides are 2 3/4", my DeCou brim rounding jack is perfect, it makes cutting the brim so much easier, fast, accurate and this rounding jack is outstanding, you couldn't ask for better, if you set it for a 4" wide brim cut that is what you are going to get and if you want a dimensional cut so the brim is wide on the sides, all you have to do is adjust the brass base out.

Looking good! Seems like a sound method. Are you using a custom-made block for that hat or a standard block? I’m looking to invest in a block to help maintain my Indy-style hats and I’m debating if I’ll need to have a custom block made. Cheers!

I have the felt on a wooden hat block full size, regular oval 60CM, when I am finished with the hat someone that wears a 59cm will be able to wear the hat, like me.
I purchased a flex curve from Amazon 30" long, I used it to get the shape of my head, then traced around the inside area of the flex curve, cut the shape out then sanded it down to the lines and rounded the top edges and the put it into the hat. If you use your band block in your hat when you are not wearing it, the hat will fit like a glove. You can always use a flex curve to get the shape of your head, trace the inside area of the curve onto a piece of poster board and cut that out and have someone make you a band block. Use untreated wood for the band block, you can always apply a coat of varathane to the wood.
I forgot to mention that belfastboy told me about using a Flex curve to make a shape and pattern of my head or a customer's head. I am sorry that I forgot to mention that earlier.

It is great for shade. I'll be wearing this one well into the summer season for that very reason!

I like the way that you bashed the crown and brim, the hat really looks great. My wife loves the style, she is really impressed with the style too!

I recently sold my green fedora, the customer sent his band block to me to use to form the hat, I have to say, I really like working with the band block, the hat is taking form with ease. I checked the hat earlier this morning after working on it last night and the band block just slide out with ease, it is going to be a perfect fit, the hat should be a very comfortable hat to wear. The band block is made of a hard wood and has a nice smooth coat of varathane, the customer used a Conformateur to make the band block.

I am working on another Indiana Jones Raiders Fedora, I still have a little work to do on the bash of the crown, here are a few photos of the work so far. After I get the bash right I will take some photos in natural light. This fedora is 7 3/8" , 3" brim width front and back, 2 3/4" width on the sides.

I took advantage of some good weather today for some up dated photos. It is a little cool outside, the sun light really makes a difference.

It has been a while since I have posted a finished hat, the Indy style fedora sold four days after posting it on Ebay, the hat has been delivered to the person that purchased the hat.

I finished work on a Millinery Warehouse steel gray rabbit fir felt yesterday. This hat is a size 7 1/4" the front crown is 4 1/2" high, the back of the crown is 4 1/8", the sides are 5" tall and the brim is 3" wide, the hat band is 1 1/2" wide vintage grosgrain ribbon burgundy color, the bow is 5 1/2" long, the leather sweatband is 2" wide medium brown with black bow, the liner is dark blue satin with gold piping.
