Hey all!
I found a lovely 7-button peacoat today. I would very much like to make it an 8-button peacoat. Anyone have a spare button to sell?

Is there any difference between older ones and newer that would make a newer one stand out from the rest? Like plastic type, etc? I saw some on eBay for a decent price but not sure if they are era specific in any way.

I think I will hit my local vintage stores and see if any have a button drawer to search through in hopes of finding an old one first, then go from there. A repro will work, but real is always better! :)
Yeah real always works, I always grab original thread and buttons from French dealers especially German and French buttons

I found a button in a local vintage shop!
Turns out she has a small jar of them, and I found one that looks perfect, nice but not too pristine so it fits in.
Also, I found out while giving it a good sticky-rollering that there are two more buttons hiding under the collar that I hadn't spotted before. My 8 button is actually a 10 button. I could blame this one on my visual impairment...but actually it was just a hiccup in my powers of observation. Didn't notice the top button holes...

Edit: Just went through the peacoat thread again... I guess it's just the buttons that show that are counted, so an 8 button again.
