There isn’t any more info about the piece. Basically just trying to see if it’s made in the US, a decent model etc.

They (Cabela's) moved into the Sidney, Nebraska facility in 1968. So the jacket cannot be older than 1968. The zipper is interesting, if it is a Talon with the "paperclip" pull, that might indicate late sixties, maybe 70s. The leather looks pretty thin. You won't find much info on a mass-produced jacket from a big maker such as Cabela's.

As Will stated before, the jacket might be late 60s. My first impression is of an Orchard MFG. However, if you share more images of the lining and back side, I might be able to give a more accurate observation. Back in the day, Orchard used Conmars/Scovill and other solid zips. The zip looks like a Conmar / Scovill to me. At any rate, those are nice jackets to wear around. The G-1 type is a classic jacket. In my view, this is one of the few jackets that will never go out of style. I am currently doing a 51-52 G-1 governmental contract. The leather is thin as hell. After I finish with it, the goat will sing. LOL.

There are very knowledgeable members here. I hope they give their thought on this. There also the friends at the vintage leather jacket forum. They dive deeper in to flight jackets.

Dude, that is ABSOLUTELY hilarious! Before I make any post, I always check to see if there are other people who have posted on the very same subject, for the obvious reason that my question might have already been answered.

However, I guess I didn't word my search terms correctly because I only stumbled upon your post from June of this past summer right now, on the 2nd of January, 2026!

My post concerns the VERY same jacket, however mine is lined with a very luxurious (but heavy) fake fleece.

I emailed the Cabela's company but they were about as useless as t*ts on a bull....

Happy new year!
