Carole Lombard is one of my all-time favorites! In my opinion, she was probably the most beautiful actress of the golden era...and the most fun-loving as well. Gable was a lucky man to have been married to her, even if only for a short time.
BTW, there was a good biography of her in "Films in Review" magazine. I'll post the exact issue later.

Enjoyed Lombard in Swing High, Swing Low (1937). Lousy print of this movie, but both Lombard and Fred MacMurray (who was never better, not counting Double Indemnity; The Caine Mutiny; and The Apartment) were really good together.

I've been enjoying The Carole Lombard Glamour Collection and two films from that set stand out for me: Hands Across the Table and Love Before Breakfast. Especially the former, featuring one of Carole's best performances, IMO. I'd seen it before but this time she and the film resonated with me. Lombard teams with Fred MacMurray here, yet the "kismet" moment is when William Demarest (later Uncle Charlie on My Three Sons) has a brief (but hilarious!) scene with Fred, which I won't spoil for anyone...Fun movie, and Ralph Bellamy's character has a great apartment!

I found it very moving to see remnants of the plane still there. I'd like to hike up there one day to pay my respects.
And, btw, My Man Godfrey is one of my favorite films with two of my favorite stars.

IMO, Lombard's the most photogenic woman of the Golden Age of Hollywood. I find other stars of the era to be prettier, but they just don't photograph as well as she does.

The book Gable & Lombard (Harris, 1974) isn't bad and has a good bit about both. Very few Hollywood bios are anything but mediocre and this is no different, but it's a quick read.
