Original WWII USAAF jacket - request for opinions

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum and would appreciate your expertise. I recently acquired what I believe to be an original WWII USAAF flight jacket and would welcome opinions regarding authenticity, contact details, and overall assessment.

The jacket is in very good overall condition considering age. The leather is supple, the original insignia/patch is still present, with some wear to one sleeve but no major damage or repairs.

I have attached photos of the jacket, incuding close-ups of the label, stitching, zipper, patches, and areas of wear.

Any feedback or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Thank you very much for the kind words and for the reference — much appreciated.

I’ll definitely take a look at the discussion on the 42-21539P contract over at the Flight Jackets forum.

Thanks again for the helpful input.

Just to follow up - would a mid -$4k USD range be considered reasonable for an original Doniger a-2 in this condition?

Unfortunately not. The jacket has undergone a few repairs and restoration and isn't completely original. The liner has been replaced and the hanger loop was not reinstalled. The spec label looks like it may be a reproduction. The knits appear to be replacements. I'd hazard a guess that the zipper is a NOS replacement as well.

A more fair valuation would be $1,500 +/-.
