The so-called "Panama" hat is a complex subject, with many variables, not the least of them being the "Monte Cristo" as against the "Cuenca" distinction.
I would herewith like to open a Cuenca showcase, for all to join and display their namesake hats, providing us with a database from which to draw knowledge.
Since I was recently enlightened (by Panama Bob) that my ...next.... christmas hat no es from down in Monte Christo but rather high up in the mountains of Cuenca, here it is:
