Caxton ad said to date 1955. Says their hats range in price from $10 to $50. Therefore, any Caxton hat priced less than $10 presumably was made sometime before 1955.

Caxton 3X Beaver Ten "Bulldogger". I stumbled across it for practically free. The sweatband says this hat is also called "The Westernaire", designed and made expressly for The Westernaire in Prescott, Arizona.

Caxton 4X Beaver for sale on eBay now, belonged to TV star Guy Madison who played Wild Bill Hickok. Hat is autographed by Madison, who also signed the original box the hat comes with.

A matchbook with Caxton ads saying Caxton had been around since 1927. This matchbook is on eBay now. I don't know if that 1927 date for Caxton is actually true, but there's no early hats on the Lounge.

Caxton 4X Beaver Twelve Fifty, Sam Bass model. Has 3 3/4 inch brim. I don't see a mfg tag. There's a very high brown translucent sweat barrier behind the sweatband and liner edge. I can see a Union label behind it.

Wow, Mike. You've added some spectacular Caxtons to your collection. They don't show up all that often, so it's good to see some added here.

Thanks, Stefan. Caxtons just arouse my curiosity and seem like they were good hats for the price.

More photos of this Caxton 3X Beaver Ten, "Bulldogger" model. Has 3 1/2 inch brim & 5 1/2 inch open crown. The liner design is different from any other shown on this thread. The hat was not only specially designed and made for The Westernaire in Prescott Arizona, but the price tag indicates that's also where it was sold. There was a large Caxton info label on the side of the sweatband when the seller photographed the hat, but he didn't send the tag with the hat. He tore it out or something, so I've attached a photo of the same type of tag that was in another hat on this thread. It's the last photo.

Another photo of the liner, which is different from any other known Caxton liner, perhaps because this is a specially designed hat?

Interesting. “Bulldogger” was a licensed & registered trademark of the Moore Hat Co from their earliest days of making straw hats. They took it from rodeo champion Bill Pickett & had to drop the hyphenated version in order to get it registered (Bull-dogger). Here’s the liner of my Bulldogger doctor’s hat:

You must be really bored.
Maybe it’s being unnecessarily suspicious however as 7 out of their total of 9 FL posts are all of a similar equally succinct nature without adding anything to each thread, it’s possible they might just be trying to build up their post count to 20 so they can list an item for sale in the Classifieds ?

Looks like it to me. That's why I deleted all of those short meaningless posts. His posts were reported; I dealt with them.

Not a perfect example of a Caxton, but a Caxton nonetheless. The liner was missing when I received it awhile back and the only writing on the sweatband is of the store it was sold in (Phil Kronfeld), so maybe a replacement. The leather, however is amazing and the felt is exactly as described earlier in the thread. A great unsung hat.

Caxton Beaver Twenty. Has 2 3/4 inch Cavanagh type felted edge and 5 3/4 open crown. This hat has as nice felt as any I own. This hat feels like a Forty instead of a Twenty. It comes with the original hatbox.
