Caxton ad said to date 1955. Says their hats range in price from $10 to $50. Therefore, any Caxton hat priced less than $10 presumably was made sometime before 1955.
Caxton 3X Beaver Ten "Bulldogger". I stumbled across it for practically free. The sweatband says this hat is also called "The Westernaire", designed and made expressly for The Westernaire in Prescott, Arizona.
Caxton 4X Beaver for sale on eBay now, belonged to TV star Guy Madison who played Wild Bill Hickok. Hat is autographed by Madison, who also signed the original box the hat comes with.
A matchbook with Caxton ads saying Caxton had been around since 1927. This matchbook is on eBay now. I don't know if that 1927 date for Caxton is actually true or if it's when the Joseph Kanner Hat Co was founded, because we've never seen any early Caxtons on the Lounge, to my knowledge.
