They should sell cars like that here in the USA. I think that the low ceiling in cars made after WW2 is what encouraged people to stop wearing hats in their cars (unless you like porpie hats).

Before this turns back into the Classic Style thread, let me post this about the car my hubby bought. He is 6'4" and I was surprised to see this choice but it's got a lot of headroom as it's tall. Short in length but tall in height. He even wore my cowboy hat in the car last time he was home on leave and it didn't even brush the ceiling. 2004 Chevrolet Aveo.

I, however, have to take my hat off when in the car as I am short and my head doesn't come up above the headrest. Grr.

K. T. Keller (?), the President of Chrysler in the early 1950s, insisted that he be able to get in and out of every Chrysler, Desoto, Dodge and Plymouth car with his hat on. He retired by the time the 1955s debuted, and so it began at Chrysler.

They already do. Chrysler's PT Cruisers have relatively high ceilings. I can wear a fedora in one quite comfortably -- especially in the back seat area.

I was told by a friend who's dad was a cab driver and had "the knowledge" that the hackney cab was designed as a vehicle for all classes and situations, high enough for a gentleman to wear a top hat while seated and with a large enough boot (that's a trunk, my American friends) to fit a bale of hay.

I can! From what i can see of their clothes, anyone with even the slightest appreciation of the late 1950s/early 1960s "Rat Pack"-type styles should be able to relate to those gentlemen.
