Convertible Homburg?

So after my thread inquiring about low-priced fur felt hats, I discovered the Open Crown Homburg featured here. Looking at it with the open crown, it's essentially a taller-crowned bowler.

I was wondering, would the properties of fur-felt allow me to wear it as a bowler for daytime/day-to-day, then bash it into a Homburg for dressier/special occasions? Or, once bashed, is it kind of a "that's all, folks" sort of thing? (And further still, does constant re-bashing "hurt" the hat)?

My Akubra Homburg has no problem going back and forth.
I wear it as a Homburg. But it has no problem at all trying to back to the dome it was shipped as. Stubborn bunny fur ;)

Your mileage may vary. Objects in mirror are closer than they appear. Don't run with scissors.

I wouldn't recommend it. If you had one of each in your hand you'd immediately understand why. Homburg is a much softer hat, and the brim is wider and with a different shape. Bowler has a very narrow brim with a distinctive curve, and of course it has a crown so rigid it goes bap when you tap it. You'd wind up looking pretty dopey.

That's because the bowler was the original hard hat created to protect the noggins of Lord Coke's gamekeepers from low hanging branches (and grumpy poachers).

eh wot!

I don't have a bowler. And the Akubra is sold, open crown, as a "Homburg".
Not having a bowler, I cannot speak to the rigidity of such. So, in line with what dhermann1 typed, I would get a bowler if you want a bowler. And, a Homburg if you want a Homburg.
No one here is going to talk you out of getting two lids ;)
