You are going to look wonderful in that mess jacket. As I'm certain you must know, in the 20's and 30's, mess jackets were often worn in lieu of tuxedo jackets. Please post pictures when you have your ensemble together--de-militarized or not.

The mess jacket as a tuxedo jacket was, in fact, a very short-lived fad: from about 1934 to '35, I believe. Soon afterward, all the menswear magazines made fun of it.

Ain't it great? I so wanted it. Novelty prints are my latest target. But $700 a little steep for my budget. (I didn't buy it) Well worth it for whoever did, though. I've never seen another.

I may print up some fabric of my own to the same design.
