"Do it yourself" inner lining? Anyone has experience?

Hi all,

I have a (cheap) trilby laying around, and I actually really like the quality and look of it. However, I want to "upgrade" it, just for fun and for the looks of it. Therefore I am planning to obtain a ribbon (black, or grey) and attach it to the hat and to give it a inner lining. I guess I can just buy somewhere a niece piece of appropriate satin/silk cloth, play around with it by placing it in the hat, cutting the right shape, and glue it under the sweatband. Is this how it goes?

Should be fun.

This is the hat. (a simple, but nicely shaped, stiff trilby) Wool/cashmere blend.

Any tips / pics and advise is very much appreciated. Thanks. If all works out I'll post the results here. :)
