Because of the war effort, metals were being used at a minimum in the production of musical instruments. Kimball piano company started make laboratory furniture, desks, tables ect. Well Slingerland drum co. put out the Holy Grail of collector sets the Rolling Bomber kit that if you got one today would be quite the prize and quite valuable. Instead of using metal hoops and lugs they used wood on all these parts which of course cracked under the tension often, so not many of these babies are laying around anymore. But they are a part of our WWII history.
