After months of looking, I came across this wonderful reproduction of a classic 40s/50s U.S. Postal Service leather postal messenger bag by J.Crew - "THE ORIGINAL" LEATHER POSTAL MESSENGER BAG:



But it hasn't been in production since 2009. It was USD 595.00. I was so disappointed.


So I kept looking, and this week I stumbled across this one by KINGSMAN LEATHERWARE: http://www.kingsmanleatherware.com/products/messenger-bag



(I think) it looks every bit as good as the J.Crew one, and it fulfils every requirement I have for an early 50s satchel. And the price seemed fair (USD 539.10 with a 10% discount, and free shipping to Australia). So I just bought it.
