That is a Beautiful jacket! Yes, I seem to have the horsehide suede model. Early post war Talon zippers, with the square ended pull and the bold Talon down the stop.

Both have the gathered sides instead of straps. My Classic Windward above has been seen with gathered and strap sides. Both styles continued into the 50s. These jackets seem to be the first to use the gathered sides.

These gathered sides may have been a reaction to war time shortages or a page from Military construction?

That is interesting. Great jacket to redo. This looks like a California Sportswear jacket with the MW label.
