Some great new period movies coming out:

Easy Virtue
"Written and set in the late twenties, it revolves around a most enjoyable culture clash between dusty landed English aristos and a bohemian American. On a trip to France, John Whittaker, a young English man, falls head over heels in love with a sexy, impossibly glamorous American, Larita, and they marry on impulse. When he arrives back at the family's stately pile, brandishing his new wife like a trophy, he finds a less than warm reception. John's mother Veronica takes an instantly sniffy dislike to Larita, and what follows is a delightful battle of wits as the two women employ fair means and foul to gain the upper hand."

Good
“The rise of national socialism in Germany should not be regarded as a conspiracy of madmen. Millions of ‘good’ people found themselves in a society spiraling into terrible chaos.

John Halder (Mortensen) is one those “good” and is a decent individual with family problems: a neurotic wife, two demanding children and a mother suffering from senile dementia. A literary professor, Halder explores his personal circumstances in a novel advocating compassionate euthanasia. When the book is unexpectedly enlisted by powerful political figures in support of government propaganda, Halder finds his career rising in an optimistic current of nationalism and prosperity. Seemingly inconsequential decisions lead to choices, which lead to more choices…with eventually devastating effect.”

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas
''Berlin, 1940's. Eight year-old Bruno returns from school to learn his father, a Nazi officer, has been promoted and the whole family will be moving to the countryside, forcing him to leave the home and friends he loves. His fears of loneliness are confirmed when the family arrives at their dreary, isolated new house.

Bruno becomes intrigued by the existence of an odd sort of farm, where all the residents seem to be wearing striped pyjamas. We know what Bruno does not, that the 'farm' is actually an extermination camp. After weeks of hanging around the house, Bruno finally defies his mother and sneaks out. On the opposite side of a barbed wire fence, a small boy in striped pyjamas is emptying rubble from a wheelbarrow. Thrilled that he has finally found someone his own age to play with, Bruno starts making daily visits to his new friend Shmuel, all the while keeping their meeting secret.

Over the coming weeks, Bruno becomes increasingly troubled by by what he sees and hears at home and what he learns from his secret life at the fence. The deteriorating atmosphere of his family home coupled with the stories Shmuel tells him make Bruno question whether something sinister is happening on the other side of the fence and whether his father really is the good man he always thought him to be."

Loved the line "I'm very much like drowning, once you give up the struggle its quite pleasurable"

Do see it its such fun the audience I saw it with "roared"

Miss Mojito, Miss 1929 and other Fedorista Gels, will die for the frocks and hats, whilst the Chaps will lust after the vintage BMW sports car!

Hey Binkie. I'm from Perth too. Seems to be a few of us here ;)

Some interesting info: The photo you posted of Joan is pre-photo touch up. I have the from afterward when she has perfect skin and no wrinkles in a book on photography from the 1930s. She was actually very freckly in real life, as you can see :) All her pics were massively touched up in the darkroom.
