The cheapest chinese engineers.

Crush on Retro 501s in cxl and brown leather midsoles with soft unstructured toe.

I bought some other one's on their site with green dr. soles, but it didn't meet QC for them, so they offered up their 501s which I took up because they look like a certain japanese brand that I have no personal handle in, but with an insole...these are pretty sturdy boots for the price.

These are my second pair of engineers ever and hey, the flat GYwelt looks great to me personally.

I'll check back in 6 mos from now.

Also perfect timing as I did just order a pair of their 501's in the standard black cow, also went with an unstructured toebox and after seeing your pair I'm super stoked to try them out!

For 295usd(standard cow leather) they sure seems like a real steal! and the 399usd(C.F Stead) or 460usd(Horween) for a more premium leather still a great price for a pair of engineers that looks great imo.

Yeah, I’ve been looking online for any reviews on em and from the few I seen and comparing with other boots I just went with giving it a try. Didn’t want to pull the trigger on the price of Lofgrens but I’m pretty satisfied with these boots.

Had no expectations going in but really happy with the boots.

Got a pair of "501 engineers" from CrushOnRetro delivered today in their own black cowhide.

So far so good, a bit of a "glue smell" from the boots but the fit is great and the construction of the boots seems very good for the price(295usd shipped) but I'll have to give them some wear before I can say for sure.

Did you guys catch this:

The Nicks station Master is now available on the Parkhurst last.

Not sure if they will do EEE widths on this last, like the 55 and HNW, but this certainly has me intrigued. You can spec a really sleek engineer boot with a huge selection of leathers and still land it under $800. Made in the US!

The wait times aren’t great, but not as bad as Wesco. Still, the prospect of a six month wait and the fact that I don’t have any jeans over an 8” opening anymore is enough to stop me mashing that BUY button too impulsively.

Any worn pics etc? Trying to source my first pair and unsure whether to go for the shorter or longer ones. Generally would like them for casual wear but also to wear on the bike but I'm wondering if the taller ones are going to be too much of a step up from m

I have a pair of these in the dark cherry colour. Were a challenge to get on and off for the first few weeks, but a joy after that. Different feel than taller engineers, though not a different look given they're tucked up under jean legs. Wearable in somewhat warmer weather for me than a taller boot. Similar height to a jump boot, though obviously a different feel than those. Don't think I have any photos, but will have a check.

I’m pretty close to ordering engineer boots, but I’m torn between going with Benzein again or Nick’s Station Masters. With my wide feet MTO is my only option, as much as I like the Japanese brands. I’ve owned boots with both lasts, and know that comfort is acceptable with both.

They both have their appeals. Nicks are ******proof, with thick and sturdy leather (I’m eying the Italian Brown Cypress). They now offer some sleeker toes and single welt stitching, plus the 55 last has a wonderful arch support.

Benzein/Brisselblack offer a gorgeous overdyed horsebutt and a few more custom options - like a bigger heel stack and an 8” height, though the feel is a lot lighter

The wait time is about the same and the Indo boots cost about $100 more (price has really gone up since the first pair I bought in 2022).
