Right, but you didn't get a jacket unless you were aircrew or a high ranking officer. That's my point. He was a pilot. No-rank low-rank airmen didn't just walk over to supply and say "Yeah, and gimme one of those A2 jackets too...!"

USAAF Lieutenant Jacob Beser (1921-1992) wearing his B-10 flight jacket, standing in front of the Enola Gay, the Boeing B-29 Superfortress bomber that was used to drop the “Little Boy” atomic bomb on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945.
Beser served as the radar specialist on the Enola Gay, monitoring the sensors for the bomb and making sure it didn’t detonate prematurely. Three days after the bombing of Hiroshima, Beser performed the same task in a second B-29 Superfortress bomber, Bockscar, in the bombing of Nagasaki with the atomic bomb “Fat Man”. Beser was the only crew member to accompany both atomic bomb missions.
