This is one of the things I appreciate about the members here. The average tourist would likely have commented something to the effect of, "You should have seen the horrible old buildings behind our hotel. What a lousy neighborhood!" But many of us see buildings like this and think, "I'd like to take a closer look!" Well done AnA, and thank you for sharing those wonderful photos!

I look at old buildings the same way I look at old hats. Most carry a lot of history, class, and character. I absolutely love old brick architecture. :thumb:

Me too. Unfortunately, brick structures tend to be rather inflexible and don't tolerate the occasionally shaky ground in California well, so there aren't many around here.

Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum

We are continuing to explore the wonders of Ohio. This Museum, named in honor of the long time Columbia Dispatch editorial cartoonist, is a gem and conveniently located in OSU's newly renovated digs in Sullivant Hall - the same building that houses the dance studios that Lily lives in every day.

You might dig the **** Tracy archives.

Some original pen and inks from the first strips in 1931 are on display

The changes in the depiction of women over a half century are interesting.

I particularly loved this maquette by Rube Goldberg.

And what would a cartoon library be without some original art by Th. Nast.

When you get tired of the art stuff, you can head next door to the Ohio Union for a grilled cheese and a look at Archie Griffin's second Heisman trophy. In eighty years, he remains the only player to win it twice.

Well worth a visit, even if you don't have a kid to hold hands with...
