Hi all, I've recently bought a suede trucker from Five Star (an LVC repro (?) with the seal brown collar - https://www.fivestarleather.us/prod...de-leather-jacket?_pos=1&_sid=189113c1c&_ss=r). I'd like to replace the buttons - as I've discovered, these jackets come with buttons that are either too big (made for thicker material?) or are just loose and they rattle horribly unless I can somehow keep totally still. I've seen a few posts here with the same issue with these buttons. My question is - how do I replace them? I can clip them off with side cutters easily enough, but do I need to poke a new hole through? Can I re-use the hole that's already there? And, does anyone have any recommendations in the way of good quality hardware? I'd appreciate any help before I go butchering my jacket.
Had the same issue with my trucker so I upgraded mine. Just cut the buttons with a cutting plier, they are pretty flimsy so it's an easy fix. Yes you can use the stock button holes made by them. My replacement hardware is two pronged so I had to make another hole beside the original one. Then you just hammer the new button down. This is with stock buttons This is with the upgraded Japanese made donut button. Bought from amazon.
This is the amazon sellers link that I got the hardware from. Probably go for a 14mm if you want less stress on the stitching and to make it easier to fasten. I have 17mm on mine which is snug but it works fine. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=CITRON+JEANS&ref=bl_dp_s_web_0
I bought this: https://www.amazon.de/Prym-622239-N...c02-df8ae0d5180a_FrdCWrd=Jf8ae0d5180a_FrdCr96 -474c-89ac-de786c16cf70 & pd_rd_wg = 842Vl & pd_rd_i = B0028OCKC2 & ref_ = pd_bap_m_rp_1_10_dc So no new holes are necessary.
