Fur or Faux?

Hi all, first post--hope I did the photos right. Have searched on the forum, but to no avail....I have a Knox fedora from the 50's I believe, and think it's fur. So my main question is, how should I know it's fur? Could it be fake fur? Thanks--Great Forums! Chris

That hat's made of fur felt with a long nap/ plush finish. It's probably mid - late '60s.

Unless it says 'wool', it's fur felt. The nap has been raised and then cropped to give it either a suede or velvet look & feel, but it is fur felt.
