200 starwars stormtrooper precede Lucas at parade.
Not to mention th other characters

"It's all going to be exciting," Lucas said by phone from Pasadena.
"The whole idea of Stormtroopers marching in a parade is" -- he drew out the word -- "whhaacky."

I was there earlier in the morning (3am). I went back home at 6am and slept through not just the parade but the entire day! :(

He hired the Grambling State University marching band to perform. They wore those black imperial officer suits.

Is the 501st Legion the "official" re-enactment group approved by Lucas?

quote from article:
"This is a way of George saying 'thank you' to us," Hiebert said, referring to his fellow 501st Legion members, an international Star Wars fan club made up of people who make their own costumes, despite a touchy relationship with Lucasfilm.

I wouldn't say official group as it was started by fans, although there was a Star Wars 501st action figure released at a sci-fi convention (I think it was a San Diego Comicon this last year).
