Hello how are you I recently purchased this Marke Greif fedora, Would you have any information on it possibly year?
First of all: welcome to the lounge! You may want to introduce yourself in the "new in town" thread. Interesting Marke Greif you have there with a nice looking felt. Not much to go on to name a year, but based on its appearance I'd say it was made in the seventies. The label behind the sweatband could tell us more. Other features can give an indication as well, like wether or not the liner is sewn or glued in.

Thank you for responding I'll try creating a new post. I just bought the hat and I haven't received it yet it's still in transit.

The "Marke Greif" belonged to supplier Vatter & Kaltenbach & Co. Frankfurt am Main. The advertisement below is from 1950.

I don't believe they made hats so they sourced from hat companies. In this 1936 advertisement they were a supplier of Rockel (see below).

Does your hat have a paper label behind the sweatband at the rear? If so please post a photo.

P. & C. Habig Wien "Special", P. & C. Habig's "Special Qualität" Reine Handarbeit Berlin Friedrichstr. 82a, 58cm possibly early 1930s. This hat was made specially for the P. & C. Habig Berlin store at Friedrichstrasse 82 which didn't survive WWII. Everything (felt, sweatband, liner, ribbon, workmanship) about this hat is of the highest quality and in excellent condition. The sweatband is very similar to some P. & C. Habig Wien Silk Top Hats of the same time period. The medium weight black felt has a very soft hand and easily dry creases. It also came with the original P. & C. Habig "Hutmacher" Wien Hat Box.

C. W. Borchert Berlin W., 58cm, 145 grams possibly late 1920s early 1930s. This Stiff Felt is from the same seller + original owner of the P. & C. Habig Wien "Special", P. & C. Habig's "Special Qualität" Reine Handarbeit Berlin Friedrichstr. 82a Soft Felt. I know Rehfus & Cie. Kehl a. Rhein was a supplier for C. W. Borchert Berlin W so could have been made by them. It has some C. G. Wilke characteristics so they could also be a possible source. The overall quality is very high and it wears comfortably.

According to this 1913 ad Rehfus & Cie (Kehl a. Rhein) made hats under the Borchert Marke.

Austrian Velour made in Czechoslovakia for English hatter; this hat is a European joint venture :)
A main center for Austrian Velour was Nový Jičín, Czechoslovakia (prior to WWI Neutitschein, Austria). This is where Johann Hückel´s Söhne (JHS), Anton Peschel and Brüder Böhm (also had a factory in Vienna) factories were located. After WWI the companies still associated with Vienna, Austria but after WWII all hat factories in Czechoslovakia were nationalized as TONAK. JHS main factory in Nový Jičín became Tonak Factory 1 (still in operation today).
