I have to say the finish is very nice on this Bohm. It almost has a silvery sheen to it in the light.

I am pretty jazzed that this thing is so clean, too. No blemishes, no moth bites, no discoloration on the liner. Where the heck has this thing been for 50 or so years?

From Vienna in 1950 to my home in Chicago in 2010! Gotta love it.

The Gardel´s Tango music says: "twenty years are nothing" (veinte años no es nada) less to a Great Hat"

I have been looking for a hat in the same style for a while now. Is there a name for this type of hat? The closest one seems to be the Akubra Squatter. Does anyone know of other easily purchased hats in the same style?

They are both moderate brim width "porkpie" or telescope crown in a satin semi-longhair finish(velour on the right).

Hückel Hatbox

This is the first paper Hückel Hatbox (displays a simple elegance) I have come across. It has is a protective felt layer around the top part of the inner cylinder. Shown with here with my Hückel Plume Melone.

Hückel Zephyr Seal Velour

Old (probably 1930s) like new condtition Hückel Zypher Seal Velour. It is an amazing hat but it appears the brim was cut to a smaller size. Hard to believe someone would do such a thing. :( The dark green chamois finish is beautiful but hard to photograph. The ribbon/bow, liner and sweatband work are fantastic. It was imported by Saltz's of Washington, DC which is added bonus since I live in the area.

The brim trim was my suspicion upon seeing the listing.:( Always frustrating when the condition is otherwise so outstanding. Still enough to look like a complete hat though.

I had a funny feeling about it too but just couldn't resist. In the hand you can see the cut is not smooth and the flange is off. The seller said he found it a Salvation Army Thirft store in Illinios. :)

Ottmar Reich Boater

Ottmar Reich Boater that measures around 59cm (1963) and in super condition. Ottmar Reich (and this area of Germany) were known for producing straw hats. I really like the ribbon/bow work on this one. Great overall workmanship.

Feather weight with bound brim. Unfortunately had no "etui". Pocket hat perhaps?

Robert, Those are both super! Where did you find the Rockel? An older Rockel like this one is a rare find.
They were from the same seller, both 58 cm. Was also selling a not so attractive late Hückel(didn't bid). The Rockel is much nicer than expected and hard to date although I would say pre-60's. Liner is an odd combination of fabrics not silk/rayon type.
