German/Austrian/Tyrolean Hats

You know these distinctive "Jaegerhuetter" or "Alpenhuetter" as they are instantly recognizable.

My niece wants to bring me back an authentic german made/styled hat when she goes abroad to visit her husband in the Army.What are some good brands and maybe a guesstimate of cost?

I`ve given her my hat size in cm as well as standard USA sizing.Can you think of anything else that would be helpful?

Another source is Hutkönig of Regensburg. The shop is great and Regensburg is worth a visit, anyway.

Prices for good quality hats start around 70 EURO and can go up to 900 EURO for custom made hats made of rare vintage felt.
