Necroing this old thread to ask what we think about it 6 years later. Has anybody used this method with success?
More importantly, is this harmful or counterintuitive to ridding mold from a jacket?
I ask because I got a very rare Schott recently in great condition, except it had mold spots under the sleeve cuff zips and starting to appear in the hem between panels. Returned it for a refund and about a month later, seller offered it to me again at a big discount and after a professional cleaning and conditioning.
I received the jacket and no longer see the mold it had but worry about lingering mold in the lining, etc., so right now i have it sitting in one of these vacuum sealed bags per OP, and also added 4 silica packets to **** out any moisture. I plan on taking the jacket out in 2 weeks. However, I've always presumed airing it out is preferable -- am I more likely to encourage mold regrowth by doing this?
