In 1978 my wife bought me a dark brown western hat that is "hairy" like that. In TX is was called "Grizzly". I still have the hat and had even been considering having a pro convert it to a Fedora of some sort for me. I keep it for sentimental reasons and figured if I am not going to wear it like it is I ought to turn it into something I would wear.
