Great rural American 1940s photographer

Just got back from seeing an amazing exhibition of original phorographs by the photographer Mike Disfarmer who documented rural America from his small town studio in Arkansas from 1939 - 1945. There are some really beautiful portraits of farmers, working men and their families and WWII enlisted men with their sweathearts. Was thinking of posting this and did a search and found that it already had been. Oh well. This is such great stuff. This and squareamerica.com are great for pictures of what people really wore in the first half of the last century.

Disfarmer's pics were taken mainly in Heber Springs, Arkansas.
His works are famous in the Ozarks. On a side note:
A U.S. Health study commissioned by the FDR Admin.
studied the rampant epidemic of inbreeding and it's impact
on the residents surrounding Heber Springs, AR.

And yes, I'm serious.

And no, I'm not from Arkansas
