Grey suit wanted

I need a grey suit to round out my wardrobe for when I go to college next year and will be wearing a suit every day (out of choice).

I'm a 38R chest, trousers need to be 31-32" waist, 32-33" inseam.

I'm purposely not specific about the type of grey suit I want because I'm open to what's available. Preferred is a SB 3pc or a DB suit (i.e. something which covers the waist). Any shade of grey is OK so long as it's not too dark or"off-black". I'd prefer a pre-1959 suit, or something which looks vintage.

As I'm a poor broke student I can't pay more than about £40, roughly $60. I realise that I'm asking for a lot but I'd rather not be bankrupt.

Your criteria is so rigid you are really not making things easy for yourself .My humble advice would be to scan charity shops for suits and settle for now on a more modern DB or SB one.. Also you could pick up an orphan vintage jacket cheap and mix and match trousers.

I already have four suits (plain blue, blue pinstripe, teal, black pinstripe), I just think grey will fill the gap I feel I have.

I hoped I wasn't too rigid, considering how common a colour mid-grey is for suits. The criteria I've stated are simply preferences, not musts. I've scanned charity shops for the past nine months and found no grey suits in my size. I have a few odd jackets and trousers, along with two odd waistcoats, so I can mix and match. However, some days I just feel more like wearing a simple, conservative suit.

The only reason I may sound rigid is because I have everything else I want in terms of suits (for now at least).

Ebay until you find one then. Its taken me almost two years to get some really rare stuff, so keep checking until you find the right suit. Ask sellers if they have more stock thats not yet listed. Ive seen loads of grey suits in the size you are looking for on ebay

I realise I'm asking for a lot. I've seen plenty of nice 30s, 40s and 50s suits on US ebay (one of which I will just have to post pictures of when the auction ends because it's so amazing), but all for too much money. UK ebay has only a handful of vintage suits and almost every single one is too big for me.

At the moment I think I'll compromise and buy a simple mid-60s SB 2pc suit with a nice windowpane pattern which I found in a local vintage shop for £45. I'm not overly pleased with the narrow 2 1/2" lapels or the flant fronted trousers but I guess I could pass it off for late 50s if I wear it with the right tie. It has the advantage over ebay that I've been able to try it on and now know that it fits.

Actually, I won't be buying it myself if I'm lucky. My parents offered me a digital camera for my birthday last month, but I might ask if I can have that suit and a pair of dress shoes instead (since I only have one pair of shoes at the moment). I just think I'll get more use out of clothing than a camera as I've never been much of a photographer.
