Hanger Dance dress?

I'm hoping to make it up to Reading, PA for their hanger dance on June 5th.

I'm in a puzzle as to what dress would be appropriate? Should it be fancy cocktail style, or would a nice cotton day dress work?

Ooooops, sorry!
However, if you're ever near Sheffield and want to compare Able Grable frocks then I too am up for that! And I will definitely let you know next time I venture past Rotherham
