I hope this isn't considered spam, because I don't run ads or derive revenue from my blog - I just think some of you might be interested in my quest to learn how to photograph hats, which I'll be documenting at Camera Club Confidential, my blog for lazy, disorganized, impatient photographers.

Thanks, Z

Most of us can use tips on photographing hats. Yours are very nice indeed. Well done! :)

Deanzat, nicely done! That is GOOD info - my big Norman lh2000 lampheads should be sufficient for a project like that, I would think. I am officially now a hat photographer!

Nice shots - did you use a diffuser on the flashes??

I was thinking that a softer light might help in reducing the mottling effect.

I used umbrellas bounce, but next time I'll try shoot through and bring the lights closer. Such experiments are part of this journey! Thanks, Z
