Where can I get the little spacer that goes inside a hat to make it smaller?

In your billfold, perhaps. Take however many bills you need to reduce the hat size sufficiently, fold 'em in half lengthwise and tuck 'em under the sweatband. Emergency cab fare, I call it.

Another option. Felt (available at most craft and fabric stores) can be cut into strips and place behind sweatband as needed.
