Friends, I just completed retrofitting two closets around the house. One is in my "computer room" and the other smaller one is by the entrance Foyer. The materials used are galvanized 1" pipe. Got mine from the local metal supply which I have an account. It was half the price of Home Depot 3/4 galvanized. I also used some nice fitting found at Lowes. Here is a link to the fittings: https://www.lowes.com/pl/pipe-fittings/structural-pipe-fittings/4294506723

This is an actual follow up from a previous forum thread. https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/jelado-24-7-leather-sports-jacket.116108/#post-3125864

I must admit, I got my inspiration from viewing LW working area. Here is an Image of their double-decker system. I wanted to go triple, but my well insulated and ventilated attic does get very hot still, and I do not want to take chances.

For one 7' wide closet, I went a little overboard and the walls were double reinforced with 2x4. In the 3.5' smaller closet, I had very strong wall support, due to the weight required to be supported, there was no need for additional reinforcement. However, I did allow the closet rods to go through the wood support with the addition of a strong metal brackets available at Home Depot.
I was able to utilize 5 jacket hangers with heavy jackets per one foot of closet rod.

I am not finished with the project and taking a break due to my responsibilities with my friend who needs an additional boat hand for several weeks.

The closet rods and fittings are solid. No more broken wooden rods.
My future plan when I come back is to utilize my 12' listening room's closet, which will hopefully allow me to properly store jackets and track leather suits. 12' closet will be a triple-decker because the height and temperature in the ceiling is safer for the jackets, helmets and boots.

Those fittings remind me of the Schott display racks. I was at the store not too long ago and they looked very expensive. The double-decker looks like it can some heat and ask for me.

update, For the smaller Foley closet, I used nice chrome finish fittings. I was able to visit a friend of mine who has a garment factory in Downtown L.A. He gave me some leftover 60s heavy-duty garment rack rods. The rods can be extended as needed. For this project, I cut them down to size and did not reinforce the inner closet walls. No need because the wall had plenty of structure inner support and the rod expand is only 4.5 feet wide.
