First post here. I've spent a LONG time reading all your great posts, and I thought it was time to de-lurk.

I only own two hats at the moment, a Biltmore milan porkpie and a Borsalino panama:

The Biltmore is a great hat. Very comfortable, nicely made, and versatile - as far as going with different outfits. I'm a flannel and jeans guy, so I try to get hats that will go with that look. The Borsalino has nice straw - but the fit and finish are pretty bad, sorry to say. If only I had read the Lounge before buying it!

I also have an Art Fawcett "Taos" on order (silverbelly ribbon, "natural" color felt, 2 5/8" brim), and an steel-gray Akubra Stylemaster coming on saturday... so I'll be in felts soon enough.

Pull up a stool and have a cold one...

I predict you'll be a regular in short order -- and you better have room for far more lids ;)

Akubra Stylemaster

I spoke too soon - the akubra came today! I love it. I'm not sure why some have said it's not soft - this hat is definitely soft - I can reshape it quite easily. The "steel-gray" color has a hint of blue, which I hope comes through in the pics. I think I have akubritis now... :(

And thanks for the welcomes.

Joel , if you have time , stop by one of our stores in Brooklyn . We can show you the differances between the straws and felt that are available on the market . The Akubra is a great hat . Unfortumately , it has to be ordered directly from Austraila as few stores in the USA carry the hats .

like that Stylemaster

Thanks for posting the pictures of your new Stylemaster. That's a good looking hat! Even though you can see pictures on websites, it's always helpful to see different pictures... both on your head and by itself. Your crisp pictures show all the detail there is to see.

Hey - it looks like you have some nice vintage furniture too!

Please post Art's hat when you get it. There's no doubt it will be worth the wait.

Mark - the Taos isn't done yet... I guess I have to give Art some time to work on it!

Ledsled - that's a 1959 Hammond M3 in the background of the last pic, and behind me is a Stickley screen. None of our Stickley is antique, but we love it anyway. The Victrola is the only other oldie we own. Still works!
