Hello, long time lurker here, first post time!

I found this hat in a local charity shop a while ago, and would like to know more about it. I have done some very quick research on it, and have narrowed it down to within 1934-1970, from the United Hatters, Cap, and Millinery Workers International Union crest on the reverse of the size label, and the fact it was made by the John B Stetson company. Interestingly, it seems to be labeled a UK 7 1/4, not a US 7 1/4 (which has an about 1 cm circumference difference)

What I'd like to know is if it is possible to narrow the date down, and, frankly (as it is too large for me) it's worth, on ebay, or elsewhere(apologies if that is not normally dicussed).

Yours,
Mike

Welcome to the Lounge...

Others with more knowledge will chime in with better information. Based on the lining with the seam on the side, the box (if original to the hat), the braided hat band, and the black sweatband, it's certainly closer to the 1970's than 1934.

Given that it is a relatively modern hat and in a common size, I'd guess $50 to $75 max on Ebay. Might be more if it appeals to a couple of buyers. It's a nice clean hat, but nothing special (no offense intended, just an honest opinion.) You might look around on Ebay to see what similar hats are selling for.

I would agree 70-80's. I just sold a like new Cavanagh(Hatco) Westerner 7-3/8 of similar vintage and color yesterday and it went for $11.51 despite 8 watchers.
