Home spun moth hole repair

How can you repair 6-7 moth hole tunnels in light grey **X Open Road brim?

Can you shave inconspicuous inside spot for hairs and mix up super plugs using hot glue, insert plug and sand when dry?

I picked up a $20 Open Road with moth damage...doesn't seem like I can ruin it much by trying to learn...might make a solid work hard out of it..or a true beater.

You're on to something there, Fred.

I'd stay away from "hot glue", however. Too hard to control and too rigid when cool/dry.

I have used Super77 spray adhesive by 3M, available at office supply or hardware stores. DON'T SPRAY IT ON THE HAT, though. Just spray a little glob onto a piece of paper and use a toothpick to then dot a tiny amount of it into the felt where repair is needed.

Scuffing up some felt from under the brim is the right idea.

Once the 'grafts' are glued in, I only push them down with my fingers. Sanding the hat after might disturb the repaired areas more than blend them in.
