It's difficult to put a hat up your backside, Perry.
Shoes are different.
I will contribute my count of 23 hats, all but one from Optimo (including 3 Monticristi Panamas and 2 Milans). The 1 non Optimo is a Resistol cowboy hat I purchased on a whim in Virginia City, Nevada.
For what it is worth I have 52 pair of shoes with 3 additional pairs on order.
I decided not to count until the divorce lawyers force me to.
How many feet?
An old Ozzy song comes to mind... One is too many, ten is not enough.
Too many guests, if you ask me.
I got you on the hats, not by much, but you beat my wife on the shoe department, lol....
Joke aside, that's what I'm talking about, quality over quantity is my motto.
Some of these guys have to find room for boots and jackets too!
I have been partial to the cascades.
As Joseph Stalin once said "Quantity has a Quality all its' own."
If you lined the shoes up end to end the total would be near 100 feet
I like when people cop to things. Reminds me of home.
There is an industry devoted to shining brogues, even today. Mostly in Las Vegas. Like another trade or two.
size 9 1/2?
I like shoes, so was only funnin.
Get small guests ---- like grandchildren.
I've got about 15 felts of different styles and colors and half a dozen straws.
Three of the felts that have been with me for over 40 years. They're well worn and showing their age. Just had new sweat bands put in them. Plus I have a Stetson Bowler that is from around 1915, still in impeccable condition, that is on it's 2nd sweatband.
And It's not the best thing for my wallet to live close to the Stetson/Resistol factory ! I manage to get in and out of there a few times a year without buying anything but last year I ended up with 4 new felts from those visits.
There are more than a few lightweights around here.
Highest Hat count in my home at one time, years ago, 161. Shoes (his including vintage boots, vintage dress shoes, red wings, etc.) 247, mine shoe count 122
I have sold some hats for extra income to fix my Mercedez Benz, that took the Hat count down to 139. Two of my bedrooms are stuffed with storage racks for suits, sport coats, hats, shoe, ties. The financial history of buying everything over the past 11 years, adds up to way past $400,000.00 and I am sure it would go up more if I added things such as cufflinks, neckties, braces, pocket squares, wallets, watches rings. And that would be for what Daniel had from me, not including things he purchased for me or what I may have purchased for myself.
The "Hat bug" can bring a whole lot of fashion upgrades which can be expensive...yet all worth it in my opinion. We are all here just one life time...spend it when you can, enjoy it with love, and own it like it may be your last day.
