How to adjust the hat size ?

Hello,

So I got my Akruba Federation IV. The first time the hat was size 56 and too small. I returned it and exchange it for a size 58. It is slightly too big now but it comes with some rubber as show :

here.
How ever this rubber band seems to be quite narrow.
Also I'm not sure, but am i supposed to stick it to the border of the crown or simply to put it in place ? or am i supposed to make two layers on each corner ?
I was wondering what you generally use to slightly make the size smaller ?
I know there are special things to order but I was wondering if you thought of something i'm likely to have in my house I don't really want to have to order another thing again Would tissu do it ? What else would you use to make it smaller ?

Because Akruba says the hat may shrink with time so i'd rather have an extra size just in case

You married or have a girlfriend?
Get one of her adhesive-backed panty liners. Cut in half lengthways, and stick inside, under the sweatband. I usually only put the pieces in the front, but a second one, cut in half, would allow you to extend most of the way around.
Reduces the hat size a bit, and absorbs sweat.

The foam strip is to go all the way around the inside of the sweatband. This will make it fit tighter on your head as you wear the hat it will shrink down.
