How to tie a bow tie.

Help! I need instructions on how to tie this kind of bowtie:

I've tried and tried and can't succeed and I need to know for a party tomorrow, so please someone help!

I received my first instructions on tying a bow tie from Lands End back in '86. Worked well for me.

They also show the Windsor, Half-Windsor, and Four-in-hand for those that need them.

Not to be overly critical, but that knot needs a little work. There is a loop of tie that shouldn't be showing. [huh]

It is all about practice. You know the way to do it now, so just tie it again and again until you can do it without thinking.

That wasn't all you, My Friend. That tie had lost its structure. It was a floppy mess. [huh]
No one could have tied that tie properly and you did as best as anyone.

Is a narrower bowtie easier to tie? My white piquet tie is almost cartoon-ishly wide, and it was a nightmare to tie, and it only looked barely passable the two times I wore it in public.

The white ties I see in the 1930s movies seem narrower than mine as well.
