How to tie a bow tie.

Help! I need instructions on how to tie this kind of bowtie:

I've tried and tried and can't succeed and I need to know for a party tomorrow, so please someone help! :(

I received my first instructions on tying a bow tie from Lands End back in '86. Worked well for me.

They also show the Windsor, Half-Windsor, and Four-in-hand for those that need them.

No one could have tied that tie properly and you did as best as anyone.

Is a narrower bowtie easier to tie? My white piquet tie is almost cartoon-ishly wide, and it was a nightmare to tie, and it only looked barely passable the two times I wore it in public.

The white ties I see in the 1930s movies seem narrower than mine as well.
