I'm so sorry for your loss, Art. I'm a real animal lover and the bond that can form between humans and animals will absolutely never cease to inspire and amaze me. I know I don't have to tell you that you did the right thing.

Sorry to hear of your loss, Art. Be well and know that Bronze's spirit will always be close by - just a bit beyond our earthly ability to see, but well within your heart's ability to perceive.

Thank you so much for the kind words my friends. They showed up as I was posting my first message so the goodbye's are done, he rests with nature, overlooking the pasture. The people bringing him home were very kind with the way he was handled as they could see in my face what he meant to me.
His nameplate will be placed tomorrow on a cross where he rests. The other horses were aware and extremely distressed so both got extra attention tonight...

I think I need a drink..you buying Scotrace?

You have my deepest condolences for your loss. May the sorrow you feel soon be replaced by the warmth of wonderful memories of the time you shared together.

Matt

Allow me to add my condolences. Of course I'm sorry for your loss, but -

Art Fawcett said:
He was sick when I found him a year ago, I nursed him back to health, we went on my rides together, got to know each other through crisis and conflict, and in the end I really liked the guy, he became my friend.

- sounds to me like you gave him an extra year, and a great one at that. While you might toast the departed, be sure to also toast the good you did.

I sorry to hear about your friend Bronze, Art. You were both lucky to have found each other and share in companionship for a time and he was lucky to have a compassionate human like you to make the leaving less painful.

I wish I could offer you some comfort Art.

I'm so, so sorry you and your wife have to go through this trauma and bereavment. As I've recently had to ask myself, "Would I swap the grief and pain I'm going through now with the wonderful times I've had with my dog?" I'm sure you wouldn't swap your times with Bronze, Art. This goes beyond having a pet or an animal, the bond transcends all that.
This is a member of your family who has passed away in only a way that 'you' will understand. Just take care of yourselves Art.

Your friend, Paddy.

Oh, I am so sorry Art! The love we give to an animal and the love we receive from them is so spiritual and awsome. I can completely empathize with you. Please take care and allow the knowledge that your beloved Bronze is no longer in pain to help you get through.
