I have seen this look before in the movie British Intelligence (1940). One of the inspectors wears a homburg just like this. I think it makes it sort of unique to the person wearing it. [huh]

FF, when the brim is up I feel it looks a bit silly on me....

Gee, that bottom picture, taken before you changed the
brim, looks really sharp. It's a nice hat. I think it probably
just takes some getting used to. Not that I don't like the
other style. I'm just an old traditionalist...

I don't own a Homburg, but I really (really) like them -- enough to capitalize them, even. I look for them all the time. The first time I realized how much I liked them was actually watching the original Miracle on 34th Street. Kris Kringle wore one.

Yes Sir, the one in avatar is the one I was referring to. Usually I do tend to wear it (and another brown one I have) with something a little "dressier".....but I do like to wear it in a more casual manner from time to time. It just seems to work sometimes.

Great looking hat! I haven't gathered the feel for a typical Homburg due to the fact that I like to pull down the brim like you. But that's the next type of lid I would go for.
