I have a Joe Fedora that's been utterly beat to crap and looks fine. I even got tar on it and it came right off with a toothbrush and dish soap. It's a great summer hiking, kayaking and beach hat - everyone is surprised when they find out it isn't straw. I'm still kicking myself for not buying an XXL in sage I saw online, they appear to not make that size anymore. The XL is big enough to fit 7-3/4, as you can loosen the web ribbon and stretch it out a bit.

The Bailey techstraw looks a little different than the Joe. I see the wind cord goes through holes in the brim and wraps around the back of the hat - I'd prefer that to the Joe, where the cord is stitched under the sweatband. Also, it looks like the Bailey doesn't have the little rubber ring on the back of the hat used to hold the wind cord up out of the way, which is fine too.

On really hot days, it's great to dip a techstraw in water and enjoy some evaporative cooling.
