Although no longer in the EU Royal Mail in the UK have also suspended deliveries to the US.
I haven’t seen any announcements so don’t know if any of the various courier companies are also currently not delivering to the US as well.

EU puts into effect temporary restrictions on postal goods shipping to the U.S. for private and business customers.

As simple as that - You can no longer send a package to the US, be it of commercial or private nature.
Yep other 800 bucks is commercial informed by Spanish correos here that we can send but is subject inflated taxes mm

Correos told me that small stuff can be sent as gift but it's going to hammer small businesses fer sure

I've been told yesterday at the post office that while certain shipments may not be subjected to tax, everything gets hit by some kind of customs office inspection fee, gift or otherwise, but since this is all rather recent, I am not sure how true this information is.

I a couple of days ago sent a small padded envelope to USA containing just a couple of my jacket tags, I marked gift but I guess I couldn't do that with a decent packet, it's certainly going to hit jacket sellers and guys who sell camera equipment on the bay

As I understand it, these are not governmental decisions. It's the shippers. It's not like the European Parliament banned shipping to the U.S.

But the shippers have a point: there is a lack of infrastructure in the U.S. to handle all this mess and I imagine a lack of clarity as well.

Maybe there are still some shippers willing to ship? My point is, it's not illegal to do so.

Regarding couriers, DHL suspended shipments last week. To @The Lost Cowboy's point, it's most likely due to the lack of systems and manpower to deal with the elimination of de minimis. It's estimated ~4 million packages per day entered the US under the exemption. (I made sure my last package from Japan arrived last week.) Good luck scaling up to handle that on short notice.

My understanding is that letters are still exempt as well items marked as "gift" and valued at under $100.

You are technically correct, of course, but the absence of an alternative arrangement, which the US government should have had in place, made it more of a necessity than a decision.

Plainly put, in practice, European postal services have no idea how to go about shipping stuff out to the US because US didn't tell them.

Maybe, but if so the shippers are responding to a situation created by the government. The uncertainty about tariffs, on again, off again, and constantly changing the amount and for what, all communicated to the public by tweet rather than the proper communication channels, with planning and coordination, being the obvious explanation.

Of course the shippers are paralyzed and unwilling to risk taking on the liability for paying tariffs that they don't know about, and being disrupted.

Likely this will be a short term disruption. Similar happened with the first round of tariffs, leading to the great TACO reversal.

I'm not arguing blame. Not to talk politics, but I lay this mess squarely on the Resolute Desk.

When I first read the title, my thought was, "Wow, retaliatory measures have gone nuclear." None of the subsequent comments clarified the issue so I had to Google it.

That's all my comment was - clarification.
