Akubra Federation III, Mid-Brown (with Wested Raiders, dark brown lambskin) - this was back when I first got it... it has much more brim swoop now!

Akubra Stylemaster, Mid-Grey (with FlightSuits Civil A-2, black goatskin)

Akubra Stockman, Glen Grey (ditto)

Stetson Temple, Caribou (with Sterlingwear peacoat)

Plus a couple of B!Wear caps (brown herringbone and black/white herringbone) I wear when it's extra windy, or throw in my bag in case of rain/snow when I don't wear a proper hat.

It seems like it's almost always the same two hats:

Herbert Johnson 7 5/8:

Bott "Tropic Weight" 7 3/4:

Other than that, it's usually my Dark Brown or Carbon Grey Akubra Federation IV Standard.

Sometimes a hat gives a person the appearance of stature.... In your case Goose YOU give the hats respectability. Good for you buddy. :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

AND, there are several other cheapy wool fedoras and semi-western styles, other leather 'rain hats', one Dobbs stingy I don't yet have photographed and one Panama straw that hasn't arrived from a recent Ebay purchase.

I love the pictures, but how are people listing more than 2 or 3 hats? Are you all wearing multiple hats per day?

I have seven, one for each day not necessary in order [I don't have a Monday Hat or Thursday hat] but the ones I listed are my favorite go to hats at the moment.

Seeing so many hats makes me feel very small. For me it's just a Stetson Chatham in carribou grey day in, day out. Soon this is to be replaced by an Akubra Fed IV in moonstone grey, as this will probably be better at being an everyday hat.

Before I had the Chatham it was a tan safari brim fedora from Wegener Headwear, which is now too small for me and on sale in the classifieds section waiting to be bought. Sorry about the :eek:fftopic: advertisement, just frustating that what was my favourite hat is now so unwanted.

:eek:fftopic: Don't feel bad. I don't even like owning too many of anything. If I feel I have too many hats, I find the ones I don't wear enough and either start wearing them, or sell them. Resale value is another one of the great things about vintage hats. You'll never sell a new Akubra, Stetson, or even most customs (Adventurebilt excluded) for more than their current price.

I don't think I've ever owned more than 11 hats - felt and straw.

I personally like the idea of one hat which all my friends come to know me by and therefore it becomes my sort of trademark. Like Indiana Jones is known by his brown fedora, my friends know me by my grey one.

In my experience, my friends never notice which hat I'm wearing. They know I usually wear a hat, but they pay no attention to the style or color. They're completely blind to it, in fact.

Face it: to most folks other than the likes of us, a hat is just a hat!
