Is this brim flat?

Johnny, wonderful idea. Thanks.

Dennis, I've ironed lots of wavy brims flat. I use a regular steam iron & a handkerchief between the felt & the iron, works great. Make sure you don't let the point of the iron touch the crown when you are working close to it, or like Johnny warned, it'll singe the ribbon or the felt. The steam will recharge the shellac in the brim when it cools so the brim holds the pressing.

Don't know that being a fedora and having a flat brim are mutually exclusive. Most modern fedoras have way too much curl in the wrong place for my taste. One of the modern design/manufacturing criteria that tend to make them "hat like objects" instead of hats.
