My bet is they are leftovers from photo shoots. Listing them shows how hip they are. If they sell, its a few bucks in the till.

This is very possible.

A couple of months ago J Crew had a NYC window display where they trucked in a couple of pallets worth of vintage suitcases. When the display changes they could sell the props.
