I just picked up this Penny's Marathon fedora. I'll post more pics when it arrives.

Pretty sweet... pretty sweet indeed.
I've got a slew of the grey with black bands in my collection and, well they go with just about anything.
Show us the liner.

Thanks Matt (and jml90); here is a shot of the liner. It looks like it may need some work, but will know more when it arrives. Now that Art is no longer working on hats who would you (or anybody) recommend if it needs repair?

I like the greys and the black ribbons. I never owned a Pennys. Any opinions from anyone on them?

Thanks.

Nice Marathon you have there.
It looks as if the liner and sweat are the same as the ones in my thin ribboned Marathon. Mine has the plastic? between the sweat and the hat.
I think you will come to love your Marathon, mine seems to be of a good quality felt.
Sturdy yet fairly soft.

After checking, it would seem the lining is a little different.
here is a shot of mine. Even the sweat is not the same.

Thanks. I have a Lee that has the plastic between the sweat band and liner. I like that idea. The Lee hat is a grey one as well and soft felt.

I looking forward in wearing the Marathon.

Thanks again.

Nice Hat, I love grey with a black band. I own one and it is so versatile. It has become my daily wearer actually. I intend to buy another one soon to reserve for strictly dress occasions. Hopefully, those sweatband wrinkles are just the result of all of that newspaper tucked up inside. I can't help but wonder what the date on that paper is :) . Please let us know what you find once you actually receive the lid

Repairs

Most of the folks here have been using Optimo in Chicago, but there was a thread listing several others as well. Optimo comes highly recommended for his repairs as well as his custom hats. Maybe you will be lucky and not need any repairs. Nice catch.

I think RBH may be right. There looks to be enough newspaper in there to start competing with the New York Daily News.
Pull it out and the sweat may lay down nicely.

Great find.
